At high altitudes this rare cacao grows along the remote slopes of Colombia's Sierra Nevada coastal mountains. Since there are no roads, the wild cacao is harvested by the Arhuaco indigenous people and brought down the steep slopes on the backs of mules in jute sacks. The locals measure the journey not by distance but by how long it takes to smoke their "tobacco", a homemade cigar. The chocolate has a distinct auburn color and bright fruity flavors of apricot, caramel, and a delicate nuttiness. Ingredients: organic cocoa beans, organic cane sugar, organic cocoa butter. Allergen information: contains no nuts, wheat, gluten, or soy (nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free). Made in a facility that uses dairy.
